The Rohnert Park Community Chorale was founded in 1981 by Margot Godolphin, whose leadership and passion shaped the group for nearly 30 years. Following Margot’s retirement, bass singer Wayne Thush stepped in to guide the Chorale during its transition. In 2015, Karen Ball became our Director, continuing the tradition of musical excellence and community spirit. Now we are thrilled to welcome our new Artistic Director, Mary Jo Teplitz, as we begin an exciting new chapter in our journey.
Mary Jo holds a Master’s degree in Music Literature from Dominican College of San Rafael and has been singing in choirs for as long as she can remember. In addition to her vocal background, she brings a wealth of instrumental experience—having played flute with the Rohnert Park Symphony, the Sonoma State University Orchestra, and various other ensembles. She also serves as the substitute director of the Petaluma Women’s Chorus. We are excited to bring her diverse musical talents and deep passion for choral music to our community.
The Rohnert Park Community Chorale is a mixed SATB choir that delights in performing a wide variety of music—including show tunes, folk songs, light classical works, spirituals, jazz standards, and popular favorites.
We present concerts every spring and fall, open to the entire community, and also perform at local events such as Rohnert Park Founder’s Day, the Expressway Christmas Tree Lighting, Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day ceremonies, and Rohnert Park Family Fun events. You’ll also find us bringing music to senior living communities, service clubs, and anywhere people appreciate the joy of song.
If you’re interested in singing with us or supporting the Chorale, we’d love to hear from you!
